The painters-engravers of the 19th century and early 20th century reproduced their own works, or variants thereof, using the etching technics. The collection contains works belonging to Theodor Aman, Nicolae Vermont, Iosif Iser, Gheorghe Petrascu, Alexandru Steriadi and others.

In the last two decades, our institution has enriched its heritage by increasing contemporary engravings and etching plates in such a measure that the Museum of Fine Arts Tulcea may also be deemed as a museum of etchings and engravings.

The Museum of Fine Arts Tulcea is the only institution in the country that collects etching and engraving plates: its collection contains linocut plates, woodcut plates, metal etching and lithographic stones totaling 542 pieces of European prestige.
