807 works of religious painting, representing Christian-Orthodox Church spiritual values, are the heritage of the Museum of Fine Arts. The collection may cover the temporary register of the 16th to 19th centuries. The Lipovan icons astonish through the elegance and simplicity of the drawing, background decoration and high artistic effect garments. The decoration of the golden background and garments with vegetal elements, the supple calligraphy of the drawing and the chromatic dominance of warm red are the distinctiveness of these Lipovan icons which represent outputs of the Russian painting schools.
